It is certainly odd when you enter John’s Sharpening Service & Supplies and the first thing you hear is a customer asking about the price of a hairbrush.

“Three bucks, no, two,” answered Vinnie Bianco, one of the owners of the knife and tool sharpening store at 10th Avenue and 63rd Street in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn.

Dive into the history of this corner storefront, however, and you’ll quickly learn that it is home to two businesses: the sharpening service, yes, but also Bianco Brothers, which manufactures an assortment of beauty, podiatry, surgical and dental products and instruments.
